Daytona Beach police searching for black Charger in hit-and-run that injured child

Daytona Beach police are looking for the car that hit a child on Tuesday afternoon and fled the scene.

Police were called to Halifax Health Medical Center where they found a small child suffering from injuries he suffered after he was hit by a black Dodge Charger, said Daytona Beach police spokesman Carrie McCallister.

The child is in stable condition and is being airlifted to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando, McCallister said.

Officers are looking for the Dodge Charger with factory rims. It was last seen fleeing north on Forest Lane toward Mason Avenue around 1:20 p.m., McCallister said.

Police said the car possibly has damage on the right side from the bumper to the door. Anyone seeing the vehicle is asked to call 9-1-1.

The investigation into the hit-and-run accident is ongoing, McCallister said.
