Daytona Beach Shores couple struck and killed by SUV in St. Johns County
A Daytona Beach Shores couple died when they were hit by a vehicle in St Johns County on Friday night, Florida Highway Patrol investigators said.
The incident occurred on State Road A1A near Briarwood at 10:50 p.m.
The man and woman from Daytona Beach Shores, both 70, were crossing State Road A1A when they were struck by a sport utility vehicle driven by a 64-year-old woman from Gautier, Missouri.
The couple were transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead, troopers said.

The driver of the SUV stopped at the scene of the crash. She and her passengers, a 69-year-old woman from St. Augustine, and a 29-year-old woman from Pickerington, Ohio, were not injured, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation, FHP said.
