The Clash is back in Daytona!

OK. Not that Clash, but there will still be plenty of activity at the track this weekend.

Clash Endurance Daytona — formerly known as Challenge Daytona — returns to Daytona International Speedway today through Sunday, bringing with it thousands of runners from all over the world.

"We appreciate the Daytona community for embracing the event and welcoming more than 2,500 competitors from around the globe to our area," said event CEO Bill Christy.

The three-day event kicks off Friday night with the Jingle Jog 5K run/walk, which will include nearly 800 participants of all ages running through the track's lights display.

There will be three races on Saturday, including a Professional Athletes Race with a prize purse of $100,000, and a pair of races on Sunday — the Middle Distance Triathlon and Duathlon.

The two Sunday races will spill out onto the surrounding streets, with traffic impacted beginning at 7 a.m. until around 9 a.m. at Williamson Boulevard and International Speedway Boulevard.

Traffic on US 92 between LPGA and West Parkway will also be impacted from 7:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. While this won't be a full road closure, drivers should expect delays. Access to the airport will not be impacted.

"It's an exciting weekend," said Clash Daytona Media Director Blair LaHaye. "I think our youngest athlete is like 4. These are endurance, family-friendly weekends with more of a festival format. It's a combination of kids events, short sprints, and longer distance triathlons."

All events are free and open to the public, and spots are still available for every race except the Jingle Jog and Sprint duathlon.
