DC police arrest 4 teens for moped carjackings

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said Tuesday that it arrested four teenagers for stealing mopeds in D.C.

MPD said that the first incident happened on Sunday around 5:45 p.m. Police said that the victim was sitting on his moped at 11th and O streets in Southeast when two suspects approached him.

One of the suspects took out a gun and demanded that the victim hand over his property and moped. The victim did, and the suspects left on the moped. MPD said that the moped was recovered.

Man stabbed multiple times in Northwest DC

The second incident happened on Monday around 12:15 p.m. Police said that this victim was also sitting on a moped, this time at 13th and H streets in Northeast. Three suspects walked up to him, and one of them pulled out a gun while the other two pulled the victim from his moped.

The suspects escaped with the victim’s moped. Officers recovered this moped as well.

Police said that the last incident happened around 1:10 p.m. on Monday. The victim was on his moped at 9th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE. MPD said that “one of the suspects acted as though he had a gun,” and the victim got off of his moped.

The suspects started to get on the moped, but the victim saw a DC Housing Authority Officer and flagged them down.

MPD said that a 15-year-old boy from Temple Hills, Md.; a 16-year-old boy from Southeast, D.C.; a 16-year-old boy from Southwest, D.C.; and an 18-year-old with no fixed address were arrested and charged with the incidents that happened on Monday.

The 15-year-old boy from Temple Hills was also charged with the armed carjacking on Sunday.
