GEORGETOWN, D.C. — The District of Columbia Public Schools seeks 32 parents and guardians, four per ward, to serve on Chancellor Ferebee's parent advisory board. Parents who serve on the advisory board will learn more about DCPS priorities and provide input in the implementation of policies, programs and new initiatives for the 2020–2021 school year.

The school district plans to recruit a diverse group of parents who can represent all students and families’ voices across the district. Some of the topics addressed during the board's meetings may include, but are not limited to, post-coronavirus recovery school operations and learning, attendance, mental health support, social-emotional learning, the district's budget, special education, college and career programming, and more.

Candidates will be evaluated on their motivation to serve on the board, their connection and commitment to DCPS, and diverse background and experiences. The chancellor’s parent advisory board meets once a month in the evening from September 2020 - May 2021. A light dinner and childcare will be provided for in-person meetings. An application can be filled out online at bit.ly/dcpschancellorparentboard. A paper application can be requested by texting (202) 480-3166 or by emailing ceo.info@k12.dc.gov. Applications are due by June 30 at 11:59 p.m.
