Dead pests, chemicals seen at restaurant that failed twice in Tarrant County inspections

One restaurant required three inspections to pass due to several violations and two restaurants received bad scores in the latest Tarrant County health inspections, according to city data.

No restaurants were closed.

There were 98 inspections from May 28 to June 10.

Scores are based on a demerit system. Tarrant County Public Health inspects and scores all restaurants in Tarrant County except for those located in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.

Two restaurants received over 29 demerits. When the total exceeds 29 demerits, a follow-up inspection is required.

Pho Vieng at 3537 Denton Highway in Haltom City received 43 demerits and was given a temporary closure warning. Inspectors observed flies on food in the kitchen.

China Wok at 2113 Harwood Road in Bedford received 34 demerits in its first inspection and a score of 37 in its first follow-up inspection. Organic matter was collecting on soda nozzles, an employee was observed eating in the food prep area and resumed food prepping, and toxic chemicals were stored on the food prep table, according to the inspection reports.

Inspectors also observed dead pests and flies at China Wok, personal items and a cell phone on top of a food prep table, and shaving cream, toothpaste, and a toothbrush in a hand sink, among several other violations. The restaurant passed with 12 demerits in its second follow-up.

Boba Tea Flavor of Asia at 737 Grapevine Highway in Hurst required a deep cleaning in the kitchen. The restaurant had a same-day follow-up and cleaning issues had greatly improved, according to the inspection data.

Four other restaurants had follow-up inspections:

  • 2 TTS Fish and More at 905 Shady Oaks Drive in Kennedale, which received zero demerits in its follow-up.

  • GS Brunch Truck LLC at 2725 Purple Sage Court in Saginaw, zero

  • Subway at 6619 Forest Hill Drive in Forest Hill, zero

  • Tacos Oasis at 623 E. Enon Ave. in Everman, 6
