Deadlines approach to file in Bel Air, Aberdeen municipal elections

Sep. 6—The deadlines to file for candidacy in the upcoming Bel Air and Aberdeen municipal elections are approaching.

Filing for Aberdeen's election began Tuesday and will run through Sept. 15, according to city clerk Monica Correll. The city's mayor and four city council seats are all up for election.

Three of Bel Air's five town commissioner seats are up for election: the seats of commissioners Kevin Bianca, who is also the town's mayor, Erin Hughes and Donna Kahoe. The other two commissioners, Paula Etting and Mary Chance, will serve in their seats through November 2025.

Candidates must file for the Bel Air election by Sept. 22.

According to the Town of Bel Air's website, five candidates have declared intent to run for a town commissioner position: Sean Campbell, Steven Chizmar, Brian Fernandez, James Rutledge, III, and Jakob Taylor.

Both municipal elections will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aberdeen voters can vote at the Aberdeen Activity Center at 7 Franklin St. The Bel Air election will take place at Bel Air Town Hall, 39 N. Hickory Ave.
