Deadly ATV collision in Red Sands under investigation, El Paso Sheriff's Office says

El Paso County sheriff's investigators continue looking into a deadly all-terrain vehicle collision in the Red Sands desert.

A collision involving two ATVs occurred about 7:45 p.m. Sunday in the sand dunes area off the 15600 block of Montana Avenue that's popular with off-road recreational drivers, according to a sheriff's news statement issued Tuesday.

Both ATV drivers were taken to the hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead on arrival, officials said.

The names of the drivers and details of the fatal collision had not been disclosed as the investigation continues.
