Deadly chain-reaction accident on Kresson Road in Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL - A bicyclist has died in a chain-reaction accident on a busy township road, police say.

The deadly incident occurred shortly after noon Saturday, Oct. 21, as a group of bicyclists were pedaling east on Kresson Road near Oakley Drive, according to Cherry Hill police.

Two bicyclists made contact, sending one of them into the path of an eastbound vehicle, says a police account.

"The vehicle then struck the bicyclist," said the account. "The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and later succumbed to those injuries."

The motorist and several witnesses remained at the scene.

Police identified the victim only as an adult female.

"That is all the information available at this time due to the ongoing investigation by the Traffic Safety Unit," a police statement said.
