Man, 38, killed in crash on I-95 in Boca Raton

A 38-year-old Orlando man was killed in a predawn crash Tuesday on Interstate 95 in Boca Raton, according to the highway patrol.

The deadly crash, which took place just north of Glades Road, resulted in the closure of the highway’s northbound lanes for several hours during morning rush hour.

A sedan driven by the Orlando man cut directly into the path of an SUV for reasons that are not known, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The SUV had been traveling in the inside center lane.

The front of the SUV hit the sedan, killing the Orlando man, the FHP said.

The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m.

The driver of the SUV, identified only as a 47-year-old Greenacres man, had minor injuries. Both men were wearing seatbelts, according to the crash report.

Lanes remained closed for nearly four hours, with traffic diverted off the exit to Glades Road, while investigators processed the accident site.

All lanes were reopened by about 8:40 a.m.

The drivers’ names have not been released by authorities.

The FHP is investigating the crash.
