Deadly hit-and-run driver abandoned damaged car in driveway near Fort Lauderdale

The search continued Saturday for the hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a pedestrian, and then abandoned the damaged car in someone’s driveway near Fort Lauderdale.

The deadly crash happened about 4:51 a.m. Friday on State Road 7 between Davie Boulevard and Peters Road, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. No identity was disclosed by investigators.

Less than a mile away, detectives found a blood-spattered, silver-grey Honda Civic with a crumbled hood, dented roof, and shattered windshield. It was partially parked in the driveway of a home in the 600 block of Long Island Avenue in the Fort Lauderdale area.
