Ripley Mississippi insurance agent Kevin Huebschman had already left work Monday night and was unaware of a fatal stabbing in this duplex almost directly across from his office.

“I had not heard about it. Surprised I have not,” Huebschman said. “Not much happens in Ripley but when it does it can be bad. We’re really just like any other town around here.”

McCallister says only the victim and the suspect were in the duplex, no shots were fired, and this was not a home invasion.
