Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds lands next lead movie role

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has reportedly lined up his next big movie project once he wraps on his latest Marvel outing.
Reynolds is set to appear in Apple Original Films and Skydance's Mayday alongside Death on the Nile actor Kenneth Branagh.
According to Deadline, it "seems likely" Mayday "could be the next thing" that The Adam Project star films.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are on board to direct with Deadline adding that sources told the publication the script is ready and has been good to go since before the WGA Strike started.
Goldstein and Daley co-directed and wrote Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves – the pair are quite the cinematic duo.
Little is known about when filming will start, with details on the production and the role Reynolds will play yet to be announced.
The movie is based on an original pitch from Goldstein and Daley, who both joined the American production company Skydance earlier this year.

Reynolds showed interest in the project in April, giving the movie real momentum. Mayday will reunite Reynolds with Apple, the actor having previously worked with the company on the Christmas movie musical Spirited which landed last year.
Mayday is produced by Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger alongside Reynolds, Ashley Fox, Johnny Pariseau and Patrick Gooing for Maximum Effort.
Goldstein and Daley will direct and write the project and serve as producers, with Carin Sage overseeing the project for Skydance.

Goldstein and Daley also have ties to Marvel, with writing credits for Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as writing and directing nods for Game Night.
Reynolds is currently filming Deadpool 3, which will see the introduction of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to the franchise, and if Mayday's news is anything to go by, he will have little time off once the superhero flick wraps.
Deadpool 3 will also see the return of Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapičić, who played Vanessa and Colossus, respectively.
The third instalment will also see The Crown's Emma Corrin feature as the movie's villain.
Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are streaming on Disney+, and are also available on digital download, DVD and Blu-ray. Deadpool 3, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has a release date of September 6, 2024.
