Deandre Ayton (ankle), Cameron Payne (foot) sit second half of Suns' loss to Rockets

HOUSTON – Phoenix Suns center Deandre Ayton and guard Cameron Payne left Tuesday's game at Houston in the first half with injuries and are ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Phoenix lost the game, 111-97, as it trailed by as many as 23 points in the second half.

Ayton injured his left ankle near the end of the first half, while Payne left the game with a right foot injury with 7:12 left in the half. Payne had a team-high nine points on 3-of-4 shooting at the half while Ayton managed five points on just 2-of-10 shooting.

The Suns (16-12) are already down Devin Booker (hamstring), Cam Johnson (knee) and two-way player Duane Washington Jr. (hip), who didn’t make the trip.

Phoenix shot 12.5% in the second quarter, going 1-of-14 from 3. The Rockets (9-18) have beaten the Suns twice in taking the three-game regular season series.
