There’s been scuttlebutt around the NFL for months about Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins’ future.

Hopkins’ salary cap hit for 2023 is $30.75 million, ESPN said, and that would be tough for most teams to absorb. The Cardinals have been shopping Hopkins, NFL writer Mike Jurecki reported, and are seeking a second-round draft pick and a conditional pick in a trade for Hopkins

During an appearance on the “I Am Athlete” podcast with Brandon Marshall and Ashley Nicole Moss, Hopkins said he’d heard the Bills and Patriots reached out to the Arizona Cardinals about a trade.

NFL reporter Dov Kleiman reported quarterback Lamar Jackson asked the Ravens to sign both Odell Beckham Jr. and Hopkins before Jackson agreed to a new deal with Baltimore.

The Ravens added OBJ before making Jackson the highest-paid player in NFL history, but Hopkins remains with the Cardinals.

And while Hopkins said on the podcast he’s focused on playing with the Cardinals, he added that he’d love to one day play with Jackson.

In a follow-up question, Hopkins was asked if there are any other quarterbacks he’d like to call a teammate later in his career. Hopkins named five, including Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“I would have to say one of my favorite quarterbacks that I’ve been watching since he came into the league is Josh Allen,” Hopkins said. “Josh Allen, he reminds me of a new school Andrew Luck. I love Josh Allen. Jalen Hurts, he’s a Houston kid. He’s a dog, Jalen.

“No. 3, who I would love to have the ball thrown, ah man, Patrick Mahomes obviously. No. 4, I’m gonna have to go with an underdog. Not a lot of people respect his guy but as a throwing quarterback, Lamar Jackson, obviously. ... My No. 5 quarterback because there are some good quarterbacks out there who are young, I’m going to have to go with my dude from San Diego with the Chargers, yeah, (Justin) Herbert.”
