Rare signatures from the Civil War and the world of sports will be auctioned beginning on Sunday from the collection of the former owner of the famous Lake Norman “Talladega Nights” mansion.

Recently retired NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick and his wife, DeLana Harvick, paid $6.75 million for the Cornelius mansion where one of Hollywood’s most famous dinner scenes was filmed.

A big auction is set for Civil War and sports autographs as well as furniture and many other items from this recently sold Lake Norman mansion that hosted one of the most awkward dinner scenes in Hollywood history – featuring fictitious NASCAR driver Ricky Bobby.

But Dan Moore, who formerly owned the mansion with his wife, Judith, amassed a collection of Civil War and sports items they kept at the estate that will be auctioned by Mooresville-based Wyatt and Son Auctions.

And the “Bubbler” Jukebox shown in the classic Will Ferrell sports comedy also is part of the auction. At $4,600, its starting bid price equals that of signatures of Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis combined.

Other signatures also on the auction block are Gen. George Custer, Tiger Woods, Honus Wagner and Hollywood director Steven Spielberg, to name just a few.

Bidding starts at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, on the auctioneer’s site for the first of two auctions from the estate.

Sunday’s notable items and their starting bidding prices include:

Many other items will be auctioned, included Civil War rifles, a vintage riverboat gambler pinball machine and a vintage RCA studio microphone with CBS ribbon.

First edition books to be auctioned include “Phantom of the Opera, “Gone With the Wind,” the Dr. Seuss classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” and “Dracula.”

Bidding on the Grinch tale, for instance, starts at $170.

Furniture will be auctioned too, along with a contemporary suit of knight’s armor and a vintage Mitchell 16MM Hollywood movie camera on a tripod.

A Hollywood clapper board signed by Steven Spielberg also is part of the sale.
