Death In Paradise fans thrilled by Sean Maguire's 100th episode return
The BBC crime-comedy returned with another shocking murder, and the 100th episode featured plenty of star cameos for devoted fans.

We've all just watched Death in Paradise's 100th episode and it's fair to say we're still reeling from all of the twists and turns. But fans are buzzing with excitement about one thing above all else — the return of Sean Maguire as Marlon Collins.
We last saw Maguire in the role way back in the very first instalment of Death in Paradise, which aired in October 2011. But as it was a very special episode on Sunday night to mark the milestone of 100 episodes, Maguire jetted back to the fictional island of Saint Marie for another mystery.
Be careful if you keep reading because there will be spoilers ahead for the episode.
What, how and why?
The 100th episode of Death in Paradise started in explosive fashion, with Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) — who has been around since the very start of the show — plunging into the water with a bullet in his back. We always hoped he'd pull through, and Warrington was never worried either.
There was a very familiar face in the frame from the start of the episode, though, among those celebrating the commissioner's 50th anniversary as a police officer at a yacht club party — caretaker club manager Marlon Collins.
Maguire himself was very happy about the chance to return to the show, thanking the team and the cast — including fellow original cast member Warrington — for welcoming him back with open arms.

Viewers, too, were very pleased to see a familiar face. They wrote on Twitter about their joy at seeing Maguire again among the cast, though they were less pleased by the time the dust settled and it turned out that Marlon Collins was more involved in the shooting than we first thought he might have been.

It was all very complicated, but essentially it boiled down to Marlon wanting the commissioner killed in order to avoid consequences for the off-screen murder of yacht club manager Ramone Prince.
Collins exploited the troubled Alton Garvey in order to pull the trigger on the commissioner, though of course he eventually had to face justice for the crime. It wouldn't be any fun, after all, if the detective didn't solve the murder in the end.
What else happened on Death in Paradise?
There were plenty more big cameos to reward fans who have stuck with this show for more than a decade, including a video call appearance from Sara Martins as Camille Bordey.
Her original co-star, Ben Miller, also showed up, but sadly that was only in flashback form. Despite his death in the third series, he managed to pop up in the 10th series as a manifestation of Camille's subconscious.

The rest of the series, based on the official synopsis, will include "a deadly game of bingo, a poisoning at a cookery competition, death during a blackout, and a mystifying murder in a lift". That has to be worth tuning in for.
