Death toll rises in Kharkiv - emergency services

STORY: Ten fire-rescue units with 40 personnel of the State Emergency Service were dispatched to the scene.

Emergency workers were seen rescuing a female survivor from under the rubble.

Authorities said 17 people were injured, and eight people, including two children, were rescued from the ruins.

Survivor Bohdan Oliinyk told Reuters that rescuers saved his wife and two children who were inside the building when the strike hit the dormitory.

Russian bombardment of a residential area of Ukraine's second-biggest city Kharkiv a day before on Wednesday evening (August 17) killed seven people and wounded 16, the Ukrainian Emergencies Service said.
