Death toll from Russian attacks rises to 23, three-day mourning period and curfew in region
Two more people died in hospital the previous evening, the governor said.
Kherson Oblast has declared May 4,5 and 6 days of mourning as a mark of respect for the victims of the Russian shelling attacks on civilian targets, the governor said.
Another 46 people, including two children, were injured in the attacks.

Russia shelled Kherson oblast with heavy artillery, Grad multiple rocket launchers, tanks and aircrafts 98 times on May 3. It also used drones for the attacks. The regional capital alone came under fire 16 times over a period of 24 hours.
Evacuations are ongoing in the region. In the past 24 hours, 84 more people were taken out of the liberated part of Kherson Oblast, the administration reported. Ukraine liberated the part of the oblast west of the River Dnipro from Russian military occupation early in November.

Since then, the Russian military has regularly targeted residential neighbourhoods with artillery attacks.
An extended curfew was announced in Kherson from 8.00 p.m. on May 5 to 6.00 a.m. on May 8. The authorities told citizens to stockpile any necessary food and medicine.
Such temporary restrictions are required to enable law enforcement officers to do their job and not endanger residents, Prokudin said.
