Debris Flies Through Air as Deadly Tornado Damages Dutch City

A tornado killed at least one person and injured at least nine in a city in the western province of Zeeland, Netherlands, on Monday, June 27.

There was “a huge deployment of emergency services” to the coastal city of Zierikzee, according to the Zeeland Safety Region, which also said “major damage” to infrastructure forced some people to leave their homes until they could be inspected by the fire department.

This footage shows debris flying through the sky and outdoor furniture being carried along the pavement.

The fatality was a 73-year-old woman from the nearby city of Wassenaar, local officials said. Eight of the injured were treated in an ambulance at the site, and one was transported to a hospital, according to the Zeeland Safety Region. Credit: Lukas Fladung via Storyful
