Decatur Book Festival canceled this year, looks to return in 2024

A Labor Day weekend staple in metro Atlanta will no longer happen this year.

The Decatur Book Festival announced Monday that it’s pausing the festival this year. Organizers say they are taking a step back to look at their short- and long-term planning.

They did announce plans to return in 2024.

“Our goal is to create a sustainable and thriving organization that will continue to bring the best in literature to our community for years to come. We appreciate your support and understanding during this time and look forward to coming back stronger than ever.”

The Decatur Book Festival began in 2006 and is one of the largest independent book festivals in the country.

The festival averages around 60,000 people and over 250 authors each year.
