BLISSFIELD — Those who may have missed out on the holiday fun in Blissfield during the weekend of Dec. 9-11, still have an opportunity to check out the second week of the Blissfield Model Railroad Club’s December open house, slated for Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17 and 18.

This weekend’s layout tour at the model railroad club, 109 E. Adrian St., near downtown Blissfield, will be the club’s final open house for 2022. No-cost tours, open to the public, will resume in 2023.

Hours for Saturday and Sunday are both 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and visitors are welcome to drop by the model railroad club at any time during these hours, a news release from the club said. Several trains of various railroads will be operating, including a model replica of the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train, which passes through Lenawee County as part of its travels through the United States and Canada.

The Blissfield Model Railroad Club is handicap accessible and is housed in a one-story building with its layout all on the ground level. The 2,300-square-foot railroad display models the Chesapeake and Ohio and Clinchfield railroads in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountains. A large steam engine sign facing the north side of East Adrian Street should be visible to motorists traveling by.

There is no admission charge at any of the open houses. Donations are accepted and appreciated, the release said. Donations help support the railroad club so that its layout maintenance fund can continue.

Parking is directly in front of the building or in available spaces throughout downtown Blissfield. Overflow parking is also available behind the clubhouse along North Lane Street.

Those with questions can call the club at 517-486-0404. If there is no answer, leave a message with a return telephone number and a club member will return the call. The model railroad club can also be found at www.bmrr.org and on Facebook.
