MISHAWAKA ― Dedication of a basketball court where former Marian guard and Indiana All-Star Devin Cannady played as a youth will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Heroes Park, 3200 Harrison Road.

The court, located at the west side of the park, has been resurfaced and will be dedicated as part of Devin Cannady Day by Mayor Dave Wood and the Mishawaka Parks and Recreation Department.

Cannady, who is expected to attend Saturday for a meet-and-greet session, signed a multiyear contract extension this spring with the NBA's Orlando Magic basketball team after playing 13 games over the last two seasons as an undrafted free agent. Cannady is a 2015 graduate of Marian and went on to play at Princeton.

The day will be more than a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Parks Superintendent Phil Blasko said the afternoon also will feature a skills session for youths led by Cannady, a pick-up game featuring the area's high school basketball players, a bounce house, food and other events for a family gathering.
