The reggae legend would have turned 70 this February 6, and Def Jam Recordings is honoring the anniversary by releasing "Easy Skanking in Boston 78," a live album recorded during his historic Kaya Tour.
Often credited with cementing Bob Marley's status as a global reggae icon, the Kaya Tour began with the One Love Peace Concert in Kingston, Jamaica on April 22, 1978. Marley and the Wailers continued the tour with around 50 concerts in the US and Europe.
This month, Def Jam is turning the spotlight on the concert performed in Boston in June 1978, where fans heard reggae standards such as "No Woman, No Cry," "Exodus" and "Get Up, Stand Up."
The live album will be available February 16 as a CD or a boxed set with a CD and a DVD or Blu-ray.
Bob Marley fans can also look forward to other events commemorating the anniversary, starting with a free concert in Kingston on February 7, complete with performances from the late artist's sons. The show will be streamed live on the official Bob Marley website.
Also in Kingston, the Bob Marley Museum will host special events celebrating the artist on the same day.
