Defendant receives 12-year prison sentence for reckless driving and DWI

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Kenneth W. Badger admitted guilt to multiple charges without any plea-bargaining on April 17th, 2024. His extensive history, including three previous DWI convictions and two felonies, was brought to light during the court proceedings. The height of his reckless behavior occurred on December 31st, 2021, when he was spotted driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street by a vigilant San Angelo Police officer.

Despite attempts to stop him, Badger continued, initiating a dangerous pursuit involving multiple police units. The chase ended dramatically when he crashed through a business’s fence on U.S 87. Subsequent testing revealed an Alcoholic concentration OF 0.241, three times the legal limit.

In response to these circumstances the court issued a stern sentence of 12 years in prison, coupled with a mandatory $6,000 fine. These penalties, to be served concurrently, underscore the seriousness of Badger’s actions and the necessity for accountability.

Comment from the 119th District Attorney’s Office: ” We are thankful for the Court’s careful consideration of the evidence in this case. In addition, great thanks should be given to the San Angelo Police officers who worked to protect the public and get this intoxicated driver off our roadway that night. The punishment assessed should send a clear message that there will be serious consequences for individuals whose choices endanger the community.”
