Defense Ministry gives thumbs up to site of Bayraktar service center in Ukraine

Zakutnyi said that his department is overseeing and coordinating projects to build and equip the center for servicing, maintenance, and upgrading Bayraktar UAVs, and training of their operators.

"At this stage, I can clearly state that this project has been formalized in line with Ukrainian legislation, as this was done after the Defense Ministry and the Baykar Makina company had signed a memorandum of cooperation," the official said.

The department held a number of consultations with investors and all stakeholders, during which they agreed on a site where the center will be located and developed a draft road map to transfer a land plot for it. They also regulated questions related to the further joint use of an airfield.

On Jan. 24, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar, announced the readiness of a legal framework and blueprints for a plant to produce Bayraktar TB2 drones in Ukraine.
