A room in the Brinkman Education Center was dedicated to fallen Clark County Deputy Matthew Yates on Tuesday.

The law enforcement academy for combat training will use it.

“I mean it’s amazing the legacy he’s left and the honor that’s been given to him in the past year,” said Tracy Yates, Deputy Yates’ wife. “We’re grateful. He’s definitely deserving of it.”

Both Deputy Yates and Tracy graduated from Clark State’s Peace Officer Academy.

Yates was shot and killed in a residence at the Harmony Estates Mobile Home Park during a standoff situation on July 24, 2022.

The Clark State Foundation also established a scholarship honoring Yates.

It supports Clark State cadets pursuing careers in local law enforcement.
