Jackson State coach Deion Sanders is a finalist for the Stats Perform Eddie Robinson Award, which honors the nation's best FCS football coach.

The Tigers (10-1, 8-0 SWAC), are set to play Prairie View (7-3, 6-1) in the SWAC championship game on Dec. 4 (3 p.m., ESPN2) at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.

It's the first 10-win season for Jackson State since 1996.

Jackson State has won eight games in a row. The Tigers lead the FCS in sacks. They're allowing a conference-best 13.8 points per game.

Sanders' son, Shedeur Sanders, is on the watchlists for the Jerry Rice Award (Top FCS freshman) and the Walter Payton Award (Most outstanding FCS offensive player).

The Eddie Robinson Award is named for the longtime Grambling coach who guided the Tigers to 17 SWAC championships and was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1997.
