Deja Moo Creamery, Andre’s Barbecue to be part of first Gallatin Food Truck Festival

Gallatin wants to step up the number of events for its growing number of residents, which has launched an inaugural Food Truck Festival on May 20.

Up to approximately 30 vendors are expected to participate in the festival that will include live music and youth activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gallatin Civic Center parking lot, 210 Albert Gallatin Ave.

“We need more community togetherness,” said Gallatin Parks and Recreation Director David Brown.

More than 1,700 people declared an interest on social media to attend the festival that is being organized by the city’s Marketing & Events Coordinator Jenna Maddox.

Admission is free.

Initial vendors include:

  • Kona Ice

  • Deja Moo Creamery and Coffee Co.

  • Andre’s Barbecue

  • Chao Fan

  • Food Therapy

  • Frosted Luau

  • Cantrell’s Grill

  • Smokeville928

  • Rocky Top Pizza Shop

  • Sweet E Treats & Creations

  • Nashville Craft Beverage Company

  • Taste of Aloha.

Vendors do have to obtain a city permit to operate a food truck at the festival.

“We’ll have a variety of cuisines – Asian, barbecue, Mexican, Americana and lots of desserts,” Maddox said. “Food trucks are very popular right now.”

Showcasing Gallatin’s park facilities, especially to area youth, are also driving efforts to hold more events.

The Food Truck Festival is tied to National Park Trust’s annual Kids to Parks Day as a registered event, Maddox said. The festival will include different “creative” events for youth. And Brown anticipates more events specifically directed toward younger ages such as triathlons and other athletic activities.

“We always take good ideas,” Brown said.

Live music will be part of the festival and will include Gallatin Civic Center personal trainer Paul Jack fronting the band Jack & the Sol Katz.
