Delafield man dies in 'accidental shooting,' police say

A man died following an "accidental shooting" inside of a home, Delafield police say.

The shooting took place shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the area of Oakwood Road and Highway 83. Police say the reporting caller described the shooting as accidental.

According to police, first responders attempted life-saving measures.

Everyone involved in the incident are cooperating with authorities, police said.

The incident led to a large law enforcement response, which included the Village of Hartland Police, Waukesha County Sheriff, Waukesha County District Attorney, Lake Country Fire and Rescue, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
