DeLandapalooza Original Music Fest is this weekend: What you need to know

They’ll be dancing in the streets on Saturday in downtown DeLand.

More than 131 music acts will be performing on 21 stages for the 11th annual DeLandapaloooza Original Music & Art Festival, a 12-hour marathon that will shine a spotlight on local regional and nationally based acts representing pretty much any musical genre you can imagine.

Here’s what you need to know:

What kind of music is on the bill?

Expect to hear a broad array of styles that encompass rock, jazz, blues, country, hip-hop, electronica, folk, Christian rock, metal, reggae, Americana, among others.

“We have a lot of regional and statewide acts coming as far as Miami, Fort Lauderdale and St. Petersburg,” said Phil Weidner, founder and president of Songwriters Showcases of America, a company that has been producing area concerts and festivals since 1999.

“We also have some out-of-state acts, including performers from Alabama, from Philadelphia. One guy comes in from Philadelphia every year and has been doing it for about 15 years.”

What if I'm not into music?

Beyond the music, the event also includes an art show featuring the work of more than 30 area artists as well as an assortment of other craft vendors, food trucks and a beer garden.

Where are the stages?

Performances will unfold in the heart of DeLand’s downtown business district along Woodland Boulevard from Wisconsin to Howry Avenue. The event’s main stage will be outside, in front of the historic Volusia County Courthouse on Indiana Avenue.

Additional stages will be at venues that include Chess Park, Pioneer Park, the Half Wall, Wise Axe, the Elusive Grape, Café DaVinci. Steve’s Downtown Music and the Artisan Inn, among others.

When do the bands start?

Music runs from 1 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, April 22, rain or shine.

What does it cost?

Advance tickets are available online at www.ssa.cc or at Steve's Downtown Music in DeLand and Atlantic Sounds in Daytona Beach. Cost: $15 Advance, free for age 12 and under. At the gate, tickets will be $20.
