Jolly Christmas tour at Winterthur

Folks looking to get out of the house next week can tour Yuletide and witness a gorgeous Christmas display at Winterthur, Monday through Thursday. When it comes to making reservations for Winterthur’s Yuletide house tours this weekend, it appears the early birds have gotten the worms. But don’t fret, the holiday tour still has lots of slots on the weekdays you can enjoy. Branding the Yuletide tour as “festive” simply won’t do it justice. It’s more like a fanciful production that offers two beautifully decorated trees, plus a chance to explore traditions of the season that were enjoyed by the family when Henry Francis du Pont was alive.

This holiday experience is on tap through Jan. 2. The tour also pays homage to the upcoming exhibit “Jacqueline Kennedy and Henry Francis du Pont: From Winterthur to the White House.” You can soak up all of this fun at Winterthur (5105 Kennett Pike, Winterthur). Timeslots for Yuletide this coming week are 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Some slots might be taken. Reserve your time slot online. Admission is $25 adults; $23 seniors and students; $6 children; and free for infants. Visit winterthur.org or (302) 888-4600.

'Gilded Age' on tap at Hotel Du Pont

Fans of HBO drama “The Gilded Age” might get a kick out of an era-inspired weeknight cocktail hour at Wilmington’s premier Hotel Du Pont. “Toast to Twilight,” which kicked off Monday. The cocktail hour takes place in the hotel’s newly updated lobby, where guests and neighbors can enjoy a tasty seasonal punch and be charmed by the aesthetics of the historic hotel. Folks can get their sip on with a “Gilded Age” twist at the Hotel Du Pont's (42 W. 11th St., Wilmington) updated lobby. Cocktail hours will be held at 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Visit hoteldupont.com or (302) 594-3100.
