For those of you who want to blow off a little steam in a concert setting, the punk rock band Bayside might be what the doctor ordered.

This band has been rocking for over 20 years and recently dropped its new single “Strangest Faces.” Some memorable songs include “Don’t Call Me Peanut” and “Devotion and Desire.”

Bayside will party at The Queen (500 N. Market St., Wilmington) at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets starts at $26. Visit thequeenwilmington.com or (302) 400-7020.

Open mic night at The Grand

It can be fun going to performances, but what if you could be the star of the show for a change?

Some of the best artists have showcased their talents during open mics, and you’ll have the same opportunity. But it’s not just limited to music artists. Poetry and shorts stories are welcomed at this event for all ages and skill levels, presented by University of Delaware graduate/artist Christian “Anthem” Willis.

You can entertain others in a creative space in the Sarah Bernhardt Salon at The Grand (818 N. Market St., Wilmington) from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is free. Visit thegrandwilmington.org or (800) 37-GRAND.

Umphrey’s McGee tour with new album

It’s two decades later, and Umphrey’s McGee is still jamming on stage, blowing the minds of the audience without remorse.

The improv-rock band’s shows are full of stunning lights. This month the band released their newest album, “Asking for a Friend.”

Don’t be surprised if this show magically sells out. You’ve been warned.

Tickets for general admission will be standing-room-only, so you’ll have to bring your own chairs if you’d like to have a seat.  You also might be required to show your COVID-19 vaccination card or a negative test based on artist or public health requirements. Ticket buyers will be notified of these requirements via email, per the Freeman Arts Pavilion’s website.

Umphrey’s McGee will dish up a cosmic show at the Freeman Arts Pavillion (31806 Lakeview Drive, Selbyville) at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $29-$39. Visit freemanarts.org or (302) 436-3015.

Chuck Wicks at Bottle & Cork

Smyrna’s own Chuck Wicks is one of the state’s biggest country stars and he’s coming back to the Small Wonder for a boot-stomping good time.

Wicks is best known for his hit “Stealing Cinderella,” along with other notables like “Hold That Thought” and “All I Ever Wanted.”

More than a music artist, he showed off his footwork on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

Wicks will turn up at the Bottle & Cork (1807 Highway One, Dewey Beach) at 8 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $25. For more info, visit bottleandcork.com or (302) 227-7272.
