Delaware County's Liberty Township announces Halloween scarecrow contest

Liberty Township on Sept. 28 announced it will hold a scarecrow decorating contest through most of October.

The township encourages all residents and businesses to design and display their own unique scarecrow. The contest runs Oct. 1 through Oct. 27.

"We are thrilled to announce this fun scarecrow decorating contest with the goal of bringing our community together this fall season," trustees Shyra Eichhorn said in the release. "We are looking forward to seeing the creative entries from all ages as well as businesses. Even if a resident is unable to participate in the actual decorating contest, we are excited to give them an opportunity to vote for their favorite on our Facebook page, making it an event in which all may participate."

All ages may enter. Entries will be grouped into age categories for residents, with a separate category for businesses, the release said. Multiple individuals may register in the same household. Winners will be ranked first, second and third within each of the categories. Voting will be hosted on the township’s Facebook page through Oct. 27.

The winning scarecrows with the most "likes" on Facebook will have ribbons delivered and pinned on their winning entries Oct. 28.

The contest is free. For details, contest rules and to submit an entry, go to libertytwp.org/492/2022scarecrowcontest.
