Grateful Dead vibes

Delaware’s Stone Jack Ballers is a jam band with a history of blending homemade tunes with covers. The gang’s name was inspired by a Grateful Dead lyric in the song “Easy Wind.” The track describes the life of someone who’s like a prisoner in a chain gang and basically they’re breaking rocks all day.

Stone Jack Ballers will play Harvest Ridge Winery in Marydel on Saturday. Vocalist Brian McDaniel is pictured playing the Wyoming Peach Festival on Aug. 3, 2019.

Stone Jack will bring the noise in a three-hour set at Harvest Ridge Winery (447 Westville Road, Marydel) at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Visit harvestridgewinery.com or (302) 343-9437.

Jawn of the Dead

The theme of the Grateful Dead is alive and well this weekend. Jawn of the Dead pays tribute to the Grateful Dead’s original songs, plus covers the legendary band tackled. You can expect exploration from JOTD with some Philly attitude thrown into the mix. Guests are required to wear a mask to this show. Jawn of the Dead will push up musical daises in the Crown Room at The Queen (500 N. Market St., Wilmington) at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $15. Visit thequeenwilmington.com or (302) 400-7020.

Neil Diamond tribute encore

After selling out a few months ago and in 2020, Sol Knopf and his band are back to shine with their Neil Diamond tribute. Additionally, Knopf is going to celebrate his album “Solitary Man.” The singer-songwriter, born in Dover, recorded the project at the Smyrna Opera House in 2020 when the venue was closed, due to the pandemic.

The “Solitary Man” is going to spread his wings on stage at the Milton Theatre (110 Union St., Milton) at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $24. Visit miltontheatre.com or (302) 684-3038.

Valentine's Day ceramics for kids

When your kids grow up you don’t want them to think the only gifts they can deliver to their significant other on Valentine’s Day are diamond necklaces, video game consoles or an XL pineapple pizza (with a large side of marinara sauce). Of course, it’d be wise to remind the young people that nothing says “from the heart” like something they can make from scratch. Children ages 6 to 12 will get the opportunity to create a Valentine’s Day ceramic dish in a 1½-hour class. Since the pieces will be fired, participants will be notified when they’re ready to be picked up.

The ceramic class will heat up at the Art Studio (310 Kiamensi Road, near Newport) from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $35-$40. Visit nccde.org/259/Art-Studio or (302) 995-7661.
