Delaware man going to prison for bomb threats against high school

DELAWARE, Ohio (WCMH) — A Delaware man was sentenced on Monday after making bomb threats to Delaware Hayes High School in 2022.

Naseem Abdus-Salaam, 23, was found guilty earlier in January of 21 different charges related to the threat, including:

  • Inducing panic

  • Two counts of menacing by stalking

  • Two counts of intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness in a criminal case

  • 16 counts of violating a protection order

A Delaware County Common Pleas Court judge sentenced Abdus-Salaam to between 10 and 12 years in prison as a result. In October 2023, Delaware County deputies arrested Abdus-Salaam for a bomb threat against Delaware Hayes High School in May of 2022.

Abdus-Salaam’s sentencing includes four to six years in prison for the inducing panic conviction and an additional six years in prison for menacing by stalking, intimidation of a witness, and violation of protection orders.

“I am thankful the victim in this case can rest now knowing that this man is behind bars for 10-12 years.” Delaware County Prosecutor Melissa Schiffel said.
