Delaware Police Searching For Suspect Who Gunned Down Manager Of Metro PCS During Attempted Robbery

JOE HOLDEN: Delaware police are looking for this man who they say shot and killed a mother of two young children while she was at work. Eyewitness News reporter Alicia Roberts live in Elsmere with new details about who police are looking for. Alicia.

ALICIA ROBERTS: That's right, Joe. And again, we showed you those photos here at the top of the newscast. We'll show you them in just a moment along with two additional to help in the search for that gunman. In the meantime, I want to show you this. The memorial is growing right now for the woman gunned down. You can see candles, balloons, flowers, cards outside the Metro PCS store.

Neighbors tell us the store manager had been working here since 2012. She has a little girl and a little boy at home who will now grow up without their mom. The neighbor telling me as well that this was the fourth time that she had been robbed since she started working at this store, but this time, it ended tragically.

And again, we want to show you those brand new photos released from Newcastle and Elsmere Police showing the man police say walked into this cell phone store yesterday in broad daylight, mind you, around 5:30 PM. Now eyewitnesses who did not want to go on camera for safety tell us they did see that man walk out with a bag of cell phones. They called 911.

When police arrived, they found that female victim killed in what they say was an attempted robbery. The suspect was believed to have arrived in the area on a blue bicycle. You can see the photo from police but ultimately drove off in the woman's 2008 Black Cadillac Escalade. License plate number PC-194-769.

Now as news of what happened spread over the last 24 hours, again, neighbors today emotional about the woman they now call a friend, the person they say always helped them with their technology questions, big and small, and the woman who got a kick out of standing along Kirkwood Highway at Christmas time to wave to Santa Claus as he came around on the fire trucks.

- I'm personally going to miss her, you know. I really feel for her family, her kids and her sisters and her parents. And, you know, I don't know if she had brothers. I know she had one sister and two kids and her mom and a boyfriend. I know they're heartbroken right there. And nothing can bring her back, but I just hope she's in heaven.

ALICIA ROBERTS: You can hear the emotion in that neighbor's voice. He's one of the man who called 911, fearing that something wasn't right. She was part of the community. They tell us we want to show you the picture of that suspect. Again, Elsmere Police, Newcastle County Police joining the effort to help find him. And they are asking for your help.

They believe he is armed and dangerous. They say if you do know who he is or where he might be, you're urged to call 911 immediately. Do not approach him for fear of your own safety.
