The longtime June Jam festival claims it has some new clout to boast about this year.

"We are now the longest-running continuous music festival in the nation," said Lynn Fowler, vice president of June Jam. "We’re claiming the title because nobody can dispute it.”

June Jam turns 44 this weekend, and the festival hasn't taken a single year off in four decades. Even in 2020, when virtually every music festival around the country shut down because of the pandemic, June Jam figured out how to host its event in the fall.

Additionally, this weekend the festival will unveil a new surprise for guests, Fowler said.

June Jam will keep folks rocking all day with a lineup that includes Triple Rail Turn, JJ Rupp, Joey Fulkerson Band, 440 Band, Storm Over Seattle, Fuzzbox Piranha, Bad Alibi and Scooby Walker.

June Jam is a nonprofit organization, and proceeds over the years have benefitted all sorts of causes, from helping people struggling with medical bills to supporting organizations like Toys for Tots.

The festival's good times will roll at G&R Recreation Campground (4075 Gun and Rod Club Road, Houston) on Saturday. Gates open between 10:30 and 11 a.m. The event ends at 10 p.m. Tickets are $45. For more info, visit junejam.com or (302) 272-3127.

Beatles tribute at Freeman Arts

You know a tribute band is next-level when the group has an Emmy Award on its résumé. This is the case for the Fab Four.

In 2013, the rocking quartet won an Emmy for the PBS special titled "The Fab Four: The Ultimate Tribute.” The band performs lots of Beatles favorites, while also doing three costume changes per show.

The Fab Four will serve up a musical blast to the past at the Freeman Arts Pavilion (31806 Lakeview Drive, Selbyville) at 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $29; free for children age 12 or under. Visit freemanarts.org or (302) 436-3015.

Dover African American Festival

The longtime Positively Dover African American Festival will celebrate Black love and history this weekend.

The 32nd annual festival, presented by the Inner City Culture League, offers food, shopping at its open air marketplace and entertainment from a number of performers including the Sankofa African Dance Company, Comfort Zone Band, Philadelphia Festival Gospel Choir and the TNT Steel Orchestra, per the Inner City Cultural League’s Facebook page.

The African American Festival will bring good vibes near Legislative Hall (411 Legislative Ave., Dover) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Visit icclarts.org or (302) 883-2180.

OC Air Show soars again

That’s not Superman. It’s a real plane. But people love seeing them soar through the sky like the Man of Steel, all the same.

The 15th annual OC Air Show, which includes the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, will entertain folks for two days over Ocean City and the boardwalk.

Four different package deals are offered to attend the show, from the Drop Zone Beach (which includes professional narration and amenities like restrooms) all the way to the Sand Boxes (private viewing area where you can bring your own chairs or choose a premium box with chairs), according to OCAirShow.com.

The OC Air Show will satisfy your need for speed at Ocean City (between 13th and 17th streets, Ocean City, Maryland) with the air portion of the event from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $35 to $199. Visit ocairshow.com or (410) 450-4197.

Brian McKnight at The Queen

R&B legend Brian McKnight will have a deep song list at his disposal to serenade his fans with when he returns to the Small Wonder.

The singer-songwriter has been nominated for 16 Grammys and has three decades of music under his belt. Some of his hits include “Back at One,” “The Only One For Me,” “Anytime” and “One Last Cry.”

In 2013, McKnight released his 20th studio album, “Exodus.”

McKnight’s fans can catch him headlining The Queen (500 N. Market St., Wilmington) at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16. Tickets are $47. Visit thequeenwilmington.com or (302) 400-7020.
