Delaware Water Gap Borough Council appoints new member, chooses president, VP

After one member resigned to assume a different elected office, Delaware Water Gap Borough Council appointed a former member on Jan. 2 to fill the vacancy.

After some discussion, the council decided to accept Jamie Levy’s resignation and appoint Wayne McWilliams in his place for the remaining two years of the term.

Levy was elected as magisterial district judge for District Court 43-4-01 this past election cycle.

McWilliams previously served as a Delaware Water Gap council member.

“McWilliams has served our community for 30+ years, with many years of service as our Council President,” emailed Lisa Paulette, council's new president. “We are so happy that he is willing to return from ‘retirement’ to continue to support the Borough of Delaware Water Gap (DWG).”

Paulette was nominated, and unanimously approved, as council president. Mayor Larry Freshcorn noted that she might possibly be the first woman to serve as council president.

Recently elected Charles Bickart was also nominated and unanimously approved as council vice president.
