Delbarton high school baseball team attends Yankees' Opening Day to support Anthony Volpe
If you saw a bunch of fans in green jerseys cheering on Anthony Volpe during his New York Yankees' debut, that was the Delbarton high school baseball team.
The Green Wave made the trip to Yankee Stadium on Thursday afternoon to support their alumnus.
Volpe, now 21, played for the Morristown parochial school, winning a New Jersey state title in his senior season in 2019. He was the Yankees' first-round pick that year, finding success in the minor leagues before winning the starting shortstop job in spring training.

Volpe's classmate and teammate Jack Leiter, son of former Yankees and Mets pitcher Al Leiter, went to college for two years and was the No. 2 overall pick by the Texas Rangers in the 2021 MLB Draft. He started this season in Double-A.
