DeLeon Springs motorcyclist killed in crash with fence and tree

A 69-year-old DeLeon Springs man was killed Saturday night when his motorcycle crashed into a fence and tree, Florida Highway Patrol investigators said.

The motorcycle crash occurred at 7:07 p.m. at Reynolds and Sylvan roads, troopers said.

The motorcyclist was riding his Harley Davidson east on Reynolds Road when for unknown reasons he lost control of the machine on a curve, said FHP Lt. Tara Crescenzi.

The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, ran off the road and struck a fence and a tree. The DeLeon Springs man was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene of the crash, Crescenzi said.

The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
