Delivered by helicopter, 3 new tour boats added at Crater Lake National Park in Oregon

Delivered by helicopter, tour boats built for the deepest lake in the United States arrived Monday at Crater Lake National Park.

Crater Lake Hospitality, a branch of Aramark Destinations, said in a news release the business plans to start its summer tours with the three new aluminum alloy boats.

Steep terrain to the lake meant the boats needed to be flown in, each measuring 41 feet. According to the release, the design of the new boats is meant to use less fuel and cause less motor sound than previous models. Visitors will also have a 360-degree view of the nearly 2,000 feet deep lake.

Boat tours of Crater Lake have been around for more than 100 years, Crater Lake Hospitality said.

“We are thrilled to have these new beautiful, eco-friendly and functional boats for scenic boat tours at Crater Lake National Park,” Bruce W. Fears, president and CEO of Aramark Destinations, said in the release. “Crater Lake is a gem in Oregon, and we are pleased to be able to enhance the visitor experience with these new boats that were created in partnership with the National Park Service and Katanacraft.”
