Delphi woman airlifted from crash scene in eastern Tippecanoe County

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A medical helicopter airlifted 29-year-old Hanna Long of Delphi from the crash site at Indiana 26 and Tippecanoe County Road 775 East after a head-on crash, according to the sheriff's office.

Long was flown to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with multiple leg fractures, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office. She was in serious but stable condition on Tuesday morning.

She was westbound on Indiana 26 in her Honda Pilot about 12:40 p.m. Monday when an eastbound Dodge pickup truck driven by Ranferi Zetina Cruz, 37, of Lafayette attempted to turn north onto County Road 775 East, according to the sheriff's office.

Cruz turned in front of Long, and the two vehicles hit head on, according to the sheriff's office.

Cruz was treated at a Lafayette hospital after the crash and later released, according to the sheriff's office. He was, however, arrested on suspicion of driving without a license.

The intersection was closed for several hours while investigators reconstructed the accident, according to the sheriff's office.
