Delta suspends flights in 10 markets due to coronavirus. Which airports are affected?

Delta is suspending flights to 10 airports across the country until at least September, the airline said Friday.

Starting May 13, Delta will suspend service in 10 markets “with more than one Delta-served airport,” according to a news release from the airline.

“Building on the numerous health and safety measures Delta has implemented in recent weeks to protect our customers and employees, we will temporarily consolidate our operations in several markets served by multiple airports beginning May 13 while customer volume is significantly reduced,” Delta said. “These changes will allow more of our frontline employees to minimize their COVID-19 exposure risk while ensuring convenient access to Delta’s network for those who must travel.”

Among the airports are:

  • Chicago Midway International

  • Hollywood Burbank

  • Oakland International

  • Long Beach

  • T.F. Green International

  • Stewart International

  • Westchester County

  • Akron-Canton

  • Manchester-Boston Regional

  • Newport News/Williamsburg International

  • Saskatoon International Airport in Canada

The airline plans to keep the stations closed “at least until September,” Delta said. Delta has already cut its flight schedule by 80% domestically and 90% internationally, according to the airline.

“The safety of our employees and customers remains our primary focus as we navigate these challenges together,” Sandy Gordon, senior vice president for domestic airport operations, said in the news release. “By consolidating operations while customer traffic is low, we can allow more of our people to stay home in accordance with local health guidelines.”
