Delta: ‘Unruly passenger’ causes Atlanta-bound flight to land in Dallas

A flight bound for Atlanta was diverted to Dallas Thursday evening due to a passenger on board.

Delta Airlines Flight 731 from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California was bound for Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

However, Delta said the flight had to land at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport because of an unruly passenger on board.

Delta officials said after the aircraft landed around 4 a.m., the passenger was deplaned and the flight continued to at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

“We apologize to our customers on board for the disruption and delay to their travel plans,” Delta officials said in a statement.

Delta did not specify what caused the passenger to become unruly.

However, FBI office in Dallas wrote in a statement the passenger had a medical emergency. They did not specify what kind of medical emergency.

“FBI Dallas is aware of a flight in route to Atlanta that diverted to DFW Airport. There was a medical emergency during the flight and a passenger was transported by EMS to a local hospital after it landed. The flight eventually did depart to Atlanta,” the statement read.

The identity of the passenger has not been released. It is unclear if the passenger will face any charges.
