Demi Burnett showed up on Bachelor in Paradise on Monday night and she made it very clear that she wasn’t there to play games.

The BiP veteran asked Brendan Morais out on a date and, after the two jet skied and made out on the beach, Brendan casually dropped the news that he wanted to keep his dating options open. Demi, naturally, was pissed.

There was a lot of talk on the beach about Demi’s love life during her last round on the show and how she actually got engaged in season six. No one on the show named names, but plenty of people had questions on social media about who, exactly, Demi’s former fiancé is.

ICYMI: Demi became engaged to Kristian Haggerty in season six of the show. Kristian’s appearance on the show was a little controversial, given that she wasn’t a member of Bachelor Nation.

She ended up on the show after Demi formed an initial connection with Derek Peth before admitting that she was dating Kristian before she left for Paradise. Fast-forward to Kristian being invited on the show, where the two continued dating and eventually got engaged during the finale.

The engagement was a BFD for several reasons, including that this was the Bachelor franchise’s first LGBTQ proposal.

“I’ve learned that it’s okay to be myself and embrace that and own it,” Demi told People after the engagement. “I want to be honest and open. Love is love!” Demi said after the engagement that the two “need to breathe for a minute” but she said that she was “super excited to plan a wedding.”

Unfortunately…things didn’t last. The couple announced their split in October 2019. “We ultimately want what is best for us in the long run and for us right now, that means being apart and growing individually,” they said in a joint statement.

Demi later opened up on the Almost Famous Podcast With Ben Higgins & Ashley Iaconetti about what happened. Eventually, she said, she “just wasn’t feeling it anymore,” adding that couple would “definitely not” have gotten engaged if it wasn’t for the show.

Still, Demi had only nice things to say about Kristian.

“Kristian is very, very loving and she’s the best girlfriend, the best partner to be with. She would do anything for you, and I didn’t reciprocate that. I wasn’t as good to her as she was to me,” she said. “I was kind of distant. I was overwhelmed, I was freaked out.”

Demi said that Kristian was “so in it” and “so good to me” and that made her feel “like a garbage human being.”

“I wanted to be with her more than anything and I kept trying and I kept trying, and I just wasn’t feeling it anymore,” she said. Eventually, Demi said she realized that she wasn’t, “anywhere near ready for what I signed myself up for and what I did.”

Even though things didn't work out between the two, they both seem pretty happy now. Kristian has been dating reality TV star Taylor Blake for a year and a half, an occasion she recently marked on Instagram:
