The insurgent Colorado Democrat who came within a few hundred votes of beating controversial far-right-wing Rep. Lauren Boebert announced Tuesday he will challenge her again in 2024.

Adam Frisch, a former Aspen city councilman, says he plans to oust Boebert from her 3rd Congressional District seat that covers most of the western half of the Rocky Mountain state.

“We lost by a mere 546 votes in ‘22 — the closest race in the country — and know we can make that up in ‘24,” Frisch wrote in a tweet.

Frisch nearly pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the midterm elections when he came within a hair’s breadth of beating Boebert, who won her first time by a much healthier 6 percentage point margin.

Their rematch is already shaping up as a marquee matchup of the 2024 congressional election in which Democrats will try to retake control of the House.

Frisch trumpets his deep roots in western Colorado, including a family farm and small-town feedstore. He vows to be a moderate Democrat who would keep an eye on spending if elected.

Boebert, a former restaurateur, has earned a reputation for her outspoken support of gun rights, opposition to immigration and backing of former President Donald Trump. She also had to apologize for an Islamophobic outburst against fellow Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.)

She was one of a handful of far-right-wing Republicans who forced House Speaker Kevin McCarthy into a weeklong 15-vote marathon before allowing him to win the gavel.

Boebert’s staunch opposition to McCarthy (R-Calif.) sparked an unlikely fight with one-time MAGA ally Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who confronted her in a congressional ladies’ room for supposed disloyalty.

The district Boebert and Frisch will fight over leans Republican but includes swaths of liberal ski country.

Once a battleground state, Colorado boasts one of the highest rates of college education and is moving rapidly toward the Democrats in recent election cycles as the GOP turns to the far right.

Frisch trashed Boebert as an election denier who backed the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and a pro-life zealot who supports banning all abortions.

“Lauren Boebert represents everything that is wrong with Congress,” Frisch said.
