Demonstration project to be installed at intersection of Gould Avenue, First Street in Bemidji

Aug. 24—BEMIDJI — A pedestrian and bike demonstration project will be installed at the intersection of Gould Avenue NE and First Street E in Bemidji on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

The demonstration project is a protected intersection that aims to reduce vehicle speeds and increase the visibility of pedestrians and cyclists crossing the street.

Approved during an

Aug. 15 meeting of the Bemidji City Council

, it is a temporary project and will be removed in October before the snow plowing season begins.

The project is a collaboration between the Minnesota Department of Health and the Headwaters Regional Development Commission, alongside other community leaders, related to the Bemidji Walkable Community Workshop Group.
