Denison University announces April 2023 music department events

  • Saturday, April 1, at 7 p.m.: The Department of Music presents the jazz ensemble and jazz combo in concert directed by Pete Mills in the Sharon Martin Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway. Ticketed event.

  • Sunday, April 2, at 1 p.m: The Department of Music presents a senior degree recital by Ben Ernest in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Sunday, April 2, at 2:30 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a senior degree recital by Ari Fierer in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Sunday, April 2, at 4 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a senior degree recital by Nick Meyers in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Monday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a senior degree recital by Emma Driver in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 West Broadway.

  • Wednesday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a senior degree recital by pianist Sophia Danchine in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Thursday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a senior degree recital in composition and American Roots music by Gene Otto in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Monday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a senior degree recital by vocalist Ansley Maynard in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Tuesday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a senior degree recital by Daniel Seely in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, locate at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Wednesday, April 12, at 7 p.m.: The Vail Series welcomes the Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour in Swasey Chapel, located at 200 Chapel Drive. Ticketed event.

  • Thursday, April 13, at 12 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a series of student recitals in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Thursday, April 13, 7 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a student composers recital featuring ETHEL directed by Ching-chu Hu in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Friday and Saturday, April 14 and 15, at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, April 15 and 16, at 2 p.m.: The Departments of Music and Theatre collaborate to present Bertolt Brecht's "The Threepenny Opera" in the Sharon Martin Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway. Ticketed event.

  • Saturday, April 22, at 7 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a concert with the Denison Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Singers, and Concert Choir in Swasey Chapel, located at 200 Chapel Drive.

  • Tuesday, April 25, at 7 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a showcase of student composition directed by Zachery Meier in the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Wednesday, April 26, at 7 p.m.: The Department of Music presents student chamber ensembles in concert in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Thursday, April 27, at 12 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a series of student recitals in the Burke Recital Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located at 240 W. Broadway.

  • Thursday, April 27, at 7 p.m.: The Department of Music presents the wind ensemble in concert in the Sharon Martin Hall of the Michael D. Eisner Center for the Performing Arts, located 240 W. Broadway. Ticketed event.

  • Friday, April 28, at 7 p.m.: The Department of Music presents a concert of American Roots music directed by Adam Schlenker in Swasey Chapel, located at 200 Chapel Drive.

  • Saturday, April 29, at 7 p.m.: The Department of Music presents the Gospel Choir in concert. Directed by Rev. Timothy Carpenter in Swasey Chapel, located at 200 Chapel Drive.
