Denmark, Netherlands order additional 14 Leopard 2 tanks for Ukraine

Contracts for the supply of the additional tanks have already been signed with Germany's largest defense contractor, Rheinmetall, and both countries have allocated a “three-digit amount,” according to the newspaper’s sources.

The German government, which will have to authorize the export of the military hardware, is also involved.

The first Leopard 2 main battle tanks are expected to be delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in January 2024, and the contract should be executed by the end of 2024.

Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger said on June 15 that his company would not be able to deliver Leopard tanks to Ukraine from its own stocks during 2023.

Russia’s  Defense Ministry claimed on June 6 that its forces had destroyed some German-made Leopard 2 tanks, which, as OSINT analysts verified, were actually pieces of agricultural machinery.
